Sydney East PSSA Swimming Championships

19 March 2014

On Wednesday evening the Ultimo Regional Swimming Team met at SOPAC, Homebush for an exciting night of racing.

Our junior girls relay team, consisting of Scarlett, Ainslee, Kyra and Yanchi gave it their best, finishing in a time of 2:58.63. It should be noted that this is the first time Ultimo PS has qualified to enter a relay team. Well done girls!

In individual races all Ultimo Public School representatives put metal to the pedal.

Ryotaro is to be commended for his gutsy swim in the 50m breaststroke, in which he broke a 22yr record, finishing in a time of 41.73. In addition, he placed 2nd in the 200 IM, no easy feat!

Taixin, Kevin and Scarlett competed against a strong field, finishing their races having given it all they had.

The school is very proud of our regional representatives and wish Ryotaro the very best of luck for the State Championships on the 9th & 10th of April at SOPAC.

Jump Rope for Heart

Ultimo Public School is proud to be participating in the Jump Rope for Heart program during term 4. Funds raised will go towards research to help the fight against heart disease and stroke. We will be hosting a

‘Jump Off’ event in the hall at 2:00pm on Wednesday the 6th of November.

This presentation will allow students to show off some of the exciting skipping tricks and games that they have learnt during the program. There are fantastic thank you prizes for students who raise as little as $15.00. Mr Parr Will be handing our sponsorship forms in the middle playground on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So jump on board and try to gain as many sponsors as you can.

Dance at Ultimo Public School

During Term 3 Footsteps provided a 10 week dance program for all students

Footsteps have provided a specialist in-school dance program that included a range of dances such as Hip-Hop, Cha Cha and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Dance is a great way to achieve and maintain a high level of fitness and students had the opportunity to develop these skills.

Nalondo presented their 'Michael Jackson' dance at Assembly...Ultimo has some rising dance stars!!!

We have physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills.

Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.

The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/ physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.

There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the Premier's sporting challenge for details.
